Awwwwww!

Tonight, after LB was soundly asleep in his crib (or so we thought), I kept hearing songs from his GloWorm playing. Now any of you who know your GloWorms know that they only play one song at a time, and each song is played by pressing on Glo’s belly. So either LB was up there playing with Glo, or he was up there laying on Glo while sleeping soundly. Since I couldn’t imagine the first scenario happening without a whimpering LB, I decided to go investigate. Indeed, LB was sound asleep on his belly with Glo tucked tightly under his right arm. As Enrique and I gazed at this adorableness, he moved ever so slightly, sending Glo into a sweet rendition of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” Life is good!

Another summer perk

Swimming! LB has his own little turtle pool, complete with a water spray. He doesn’t so much like the ice-cold water spray coming directly from the hose, but does enjoy a nice dip after the water’s warmed up in the sun for a bit. Enjoy our latest swim with us…

Attention!

Hey! Toy! I’m talking to you!

Grandmas always know

Yesterday, LB and I decided to go on an outing. He was hitting his naps a little earlier than usual, and it was unseasonably hot outside, so we thought we’d just get out of the house and go visit Grandma at the library. We didn’t see her car in the library lot, so we headed to her house, and much to our delight, she, Grandpa, and Great Grandma were all there! Yay! Play time for everyone.

LB really wanted to play in the kitchen near Grandma, so she promptly got out a bunch of pots and pans for him to enjoy. I was truly amazed at this, having gotten out kitchen items for Wesley in the past and having him ignore them only to go splash around in kitty’s water bowl. Here I saw the error of my ways. At our house, I got out plastic deli meat containers, lids, and measuring cups, plus a wooden spoon for the little guy. His ever-wise Grandma, however, knew that any baby would much rather play on her ceramic tile with her metal pans and pie tins. Ahhhh, it was “music” to our ears. Hope you enjoy it too…

Summer Treats

LB is enjoying an expanded menu these days, and little cut-up foods are right on top of his list. Today, as many days the past several weeks, we’ve been enjoying grapes. We’re actually to the point where I think he’d rather just feed himself table food rather than being spoon fed, but I have a sneaking suspicion that more of that would end up outside his mouth rather than inside. {Witness “It’s Dinner Time” video clip from June 23.} Well, he’s  back to smacking his high chair tray (baby short hand for, “I want more, Mommy!”). Better go cut up some more grapes! Have a great day!

Licked, Part 2

Back on May 30 (just in case you wanted to go back and look at that adorable video), we posted about LB finding his tongue. Great stuff there, and as predicted, his fast-flicking-tongue kick didn’t last long. How sad. Much to our delight, however, he discovered something new about his tongue yesterday. Indeed, LB has decided to test out just how long his tongue is. We happily caught this on video, which we hope you enjoy to its amazing conclusion, as LB sticks his tongue out so far, he gags himself a little. Oh my! Let the hilarity ensue…

It’s Dinner Time

So mealtime with LB is always an adventure. There are so many combinations of baby food out there, and we’ve also been adding some cut up fruits and veggies to his meals. His favorites so far are oatmeal, bananas, carrots, cut up grapes, and cut up peaches. Last night, we were tackling some of LB’s lesser-enjoyed items, and I was struggling to get him to eat heartily. Thus…handing over the spoon. Enjoy the grand display below!

8 Months and Counting

LB is 8 months old today! WOW! He’s now been alive for longer than we knew he was coming into our lives. :-)   He has had a great week. Lots of giggles, smiles, snorts, naps, new foods, and playtime. We’ve been spending the last few weeks trying to have as much fun as possible while getting into a better schedule before I head back to work in August. We’ve been heading out for lots of walks, some shopping trips, and figuring out new toys. He’s getting to sleep on his own and doing a bit of sleeping through the night (much to my immense pleasure!!!).

LB amuses himself by choosing the few things in the room that I haven’t baby-proofed and would rather him not touch. Do babies have some sort of “non-baby-item radar” I should know about? He also enjoys chasing Maxine around the house, and our devious kitty has learned to steer clear of our quickly crawling bundle of joy. We also enjoyed some time with LB’s Chicago cousin this past weekend. It was so fun to see the boys share toys and watch each other. They’re both growing so fast!

So here we are enjoying the park on our walk today! Yay for sunny mornings and summer days! Happy 8 months, little love!

It’s Play Time!

See this video for some play time with LB. He was full of smiles, laughs, snorts, crawling, and fun today!

A new cook in the kitchen

Dear Mamita and Mama,

I’m ready to learn how to make tamales. When are you coming to visit again? Daddy assures me they’re yummy (RICO!), and that I will love them. I’m ready when you are!!!

Love,

Lima Bean
