A Tale of Two Toothies

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness…”

Hmmm. Wisdom.

Wisdom teeth.

Teeth.

Two teeth!

Yep, that’s right folks. It is indeed the best of times and the worst of times at our house! Little LB has TWO TEETH!! Two adorable, precious, bumpy, front, bottom teeth have emerged in his kissable mouth. How fabulous that he’s jumped so quickly into a new stage of life. How quickly, as well, that we’ve gotten out all our teethy toys and Tylenol. Unroutine is our routine, as he struggles with pain, sleep, growing, and all the excitement due any fast-changing 4-month-old.

He’s pretty proud of himself…

Those walks are so exhausting!

What a beautiful day! LB, Grandma, and I got to go for a walk before sunset today. A GLORIOUS stroll outside. About halfway along, our little babe was done with the wind and began his new I’m-a-little-older-and-more-upset cry. So I “un-Bjorned” him, turned him facing me, and strapped him back in. And along we went, having a great conversation while avoiding all the fallen limbs in the neighborhood.

And afterwards, LB was quite exhausted…

Dear Abby,

Thanks for the awesome outfit! It fits me perfectly, and it’s great to wear on these cold winter days. I’m really starting to like pants. Clothes with footies are fine, but I’m growing so fast that sometimes the legs aren’t long enough. That’s a real bummer when I’m trying to kick my feet and stretch my toes.

And look! I’m reading now! Do you recognize the Piglet book? It’s my favorite so far…I LOVE that big red balloon. Mom’s been trying to get me to read since I got home from the hospital. But I just wasn’t interested until I got these great big Pooh books from you. Now I like reading all kinds of books. I even read the paper with Grandpa. I know you must be excited about this. Mom sure is, and she likes reading almost as much as you.

Well, I’m getting hungry. It must  be time for my dinner. I hope we get to read again before bed! Thank you again for such great gifts!

Love,

Little LB

Soooooo close

I had this agreement with LB that he would stay little. We made this agreement back in November. He seemed to like the idea of staying a little infant. I told him the next baby we had could grow up and do all that getting older stuff. That way, LB and I could cuddle, and people could coo and ooh and ahh over him, and all would be grand.

He must have forgotten!

And yet, I can’t be too sad about this, because he’s doing SO MUCH! He’s smiling, jabbering, and interacting. He’s sleeping and eating more. Like his cousin (the first LB!), our little LB likes to stand whenever possible.

And we’re THAT CLOSE to a laugh. We’ve gotten a few almost-giggles and some almost-chuckles, and tonight when visiting Grandma and Grandpa, we had the most adorable shriek of joy.

And we await that laugh, that giggle, that precious baby chuckle that we know is just waiting to emerge. And I try not to be too depressed that he’s growing every day, because he’s also becoming more awesome every day!

Hey Kelly…

See how awesome I look in my jean jacket! :-)

Seriously handsome, don’t you think? My mom’s getting a LOT better at dressing me lately. I think it’s because I’m growing so much. She keeps crying when she does my laundry and then she sets some of my clothes in a box in my closet. Then I never see them again. But I don’t care much…my parents just keep bringing out these new duds for me to sport. I must be a super model or something.

I hope some other baby can enjoy these clothes someday… :-)
