Long time listeners, first time baby holders

Our little Lima beaR

Here we are, just back from our first walk in the BIG stroller. What a glorious day! Too bad we couldn’t stay out long enough to put up our Christmas lights. This might be one of the nicest days we have for a while, although I hope not. If anyone knows where I left November, let me know. I seem to have misplaced it. Anyway, our stroller ride was quite the success, so we’re looking forward to more.

We’ve passed a month!

Well, little Limabean is now over a month old. Where did this time go (especially when I KNOW I was awake through most of it!)???

Here’s an update:

  • Measuring 20.5 Inches (Yeah, we think they measured wrong in the hospital. Especially when you consider the next item…he HAS to be bigger!)
  • Weighing 9.5 pounds (Have I mentioned to you that he eats ALL the time. Case in point!)
  • Taking his first shot at the pediatricians like a pro.
  • Enjoying several car rides and a few shopping trips.
  • Visiting with friends and family, especially the Limas who visited for 2 weeks, and many fun evenings with Grandma and Grandpa Bucher.
  • Now making the most adorable cooing sound that we love to talk back to.
  • Grasping and grabbing things with hands. Now I’ve REALLY got to keep those fingernails cut! Just discovered how to grab mom’s hair yesterday!
  • Looking at things in the mirror.
  • Reading Harry Potter, volume 3, beating us all at Guitar Hero, and penning his first novel.

Okay, that last one was a fib…just wanted to see if you read that far down. Enrique and I just scrolled through his pictures, and we can’t believe how much he seems to have changed in a month. Oh, our beautiful boy! Thanks for sharing in it with us!

Kudos to Moms

I write this post in honor of moms everywhere. I think this is the hardest job in the world!!! I am blessed with a beautiful baby, an awesome partner in life, and supportive friends and family who have been holding our hands through this monumental change in life. And yet, every day, I find myself wondering…how do people do this every day…will I have a chance to eat something before dinner…how do I breastfeed when I have to go to the bathroom and I’m alone with the baby…how much more milk can this little guy eat??? And so on and so forth.

Then I look down at the precious little boy resting against me, and I forget all those little worries and questions. (For a bit! :-)  ) And I think about my mom and my mother-in-law, who I know played the part of Super Mom as they brought up their children. Actually, I’m pretty sure they both still hold that title, as we’ve witnessed over the years, but most especially in the past month since little LB was born. So to moms everywhere…God bless you all for this most awesome responsibility! And thanks for setting good examples for me!

How comfy!

I just have to share with you that Wes’ favorite position when being held is this…

Yep, the good old fetal position. I’m not sure if this is a “just with mommy” position or what, but he is most content completely curled up and nuzzed against me. Too cute! Can’t imagine it being comfortable, but too cute! Oh, and I’m pretty sure I know where his knees were in utero now! I always wondered what those two hard spots were. :-)

The LBs finally meet

We were so blessed this weekend to visit with my brother, sister-in-law, and new nephew. Little Buchs was born September 11th of this year, and with me entering the last month of my pregnancy at that point, we were unable to travel to visit them. So it was with much excitement that we welcomed them to our house on Saturday. Little Buchs is SO cute, and such a model for what we think little Wes will be doing in a few weeks. Our little LB played the part of the resident sleepy-head (hello…I thought that was MY role as new mommy!). Here are some pictures of our grand time together.

Happy Halloween!

Special shout out to Joni for the awesome handmade pumpkin hat in the first picture and Nick and Ben and their family for the pumpkin attire in the 2nd & 3rd shots.
